How to manage to
spend good nights with your rounded belly? Which position is it the most
comfortable? Is it dangerous for your future baby to sleep on your stomach? As
many questions as you ask about your sleep.
Is it dangerous for my baby if I sleep on my stomach?
Sleeping on your
stomach during pregnancy poses no risk for your future baby. It is up to you to
see if you are comfortably settled in this position, which is not always
obvious at the end of pregnancy when your belly takes more and more space.
If your baby does not
feel good when you adopt this or that position, on the back or the belly, it
will make you feel agitated!
Have you tried to lie
on the left side? This is the recommended position usually in the last months
of pregnancy. Why the left side? To facilitate the circulation of blood in your
body. On the back, you risk putting pressure on the large vessels (cell veins
and aorta) that are located along your spine.
Sleeping on the left
side helps to breathe better and your future baby will be well oxygenated. To
be comfortable, extend your left leg along the mattress and bend your right leg
under your belly.
You can slip a
cushion or a bolster between your thighs, on which you let your stomach rest.
You will naturally find your marks, as in a cocoon.
What are the good tips for sleeping well?
The more your
pregnancy progresses, the more your sleep is disturbed. Take the time to take a
nap in the afternoon. Or, at least, to lie down. Opt for a short nap time (less
than an hour) and preferably before 4 pm to avoid upsetting your sleep pattern.
You can use a
pregnancy cushion (or nursing pillow) that will allow you to find a more
comfortable position and support you in a pleasant and effective way.
In the evening,
prefer herbal teas with chamomile or verbena to the excitants (coffee or tea).
Avoid acidic foods
that can cause heartburn: dishes in sauce, raw vegetables, spices, citrus
fruits.
Dine light and take
the time to digest before going to bed.
How to promote relaxation and relaxation to sleep better?
Nothing like a warm
bath or a massage practiced by the future dad to get a good night! Relax, treat
yourself to some real relaxing time before going to bed.
Banana, fish, dried
fruit, apple, starchy foods ... some foods are likely to promote sleep
Computer, TV, tablet
... turn off your screens one hour before going to bed. The brightness
stimulates and prevents to put in good conditions of sleep. A good book before
turning off the light is however ideal!
Also think of
homeopathy: five granules at Coffea tosta 15 CH bedtime to calm a joyous
excitement, or two tablets of Sedative PC to suck at dinner and bedtime for
anxiety.
If sleep really does
not come, talk to your doctor, who will prescribe gentle remedies to help you.
